Microsoft is working on a new user interface in Windows 8 which is named “AeroLite”, reportedly. It is an addition to earlier visual interfaces and will not replace any. According to information from MDL Forums, there are three interfaces in current builds of Windows 8, Aero, AeroLite, and Windows 7 basic. It seems that “Classic” interface is gone in Windows 8.

Windows 8 msstyle files have been available to AngelWZR and he has further dissected them. According to him,
Number of images stored in msstyles files: W7RTM: 600, W8M3 Aero: 614, W8M3 Aerolite: 349
AeroLite is presumed to be flat like Metro and is inspired by earlier interfaces like in Media Center and WP7. On the contrary, a rumored full-grown 3D interface named Wind in Windows 8 is on its way. It will be able to adapt itself according to user habits and will speed up daily tasks. However, unofficial sources haven’t been able to get access to it. It seems that “Wind” is not getting out of Microsoft’s campus until Windows 8 Beta.
We earlier had a look on Microsoft’s planning regarding Themes and UI in Windows 8. They highlighted the feedback on Windows UI which would shape future UI. 3D on Horizon, Touch and Gestures, and some other are the highlighted ones.
As Windows 8 is supporting ARM architecture, a separate tile based interface named Mosh is in works for slate/tablets. This UI for Windows 8 slates might be demoed in June 2011 and tablets would likely make their way in early 2012.
On a side note, Windows 8 Public Leak is getting close if it is on schedule as claimed earlier. Don’t get slipped for fake Windows 8 torrents. However, you can enjoy original Windows 8 wallpaper, unofficial theme and wallpapers.
